Description:
Cyromazine is used to control Diptera larvae, animal flies, leaf miners and drench or drip
irrigation which was introduced by reported by R. D. Hall et al. (J. Econ. Entomol., 1980,
73, 564) and by R. E. Williams et al. (Poultry Sci., 1980, 59, 2207) as an n insecticide by
Ciba-Geigy AG (now Syngenta AG). It is a triazine insecticide growth regulator, and can
be used as an insecticide and an acaricide. Cyromazine is a cyclopropyl derivative of
melamine. Cyromazine works by affecting the nervous system of the immature larval stages
of certain insects.

Applications:
Cyromazine is used to control of Diptera larvae in chicken manure by feeding to the poultry
or treating the breeding sites. Cyromazine is used to control flies on animals. It can use as
foliar spray to control leaf miners (Liriomyza spp.) in vegetables (e.g. celery, melons, tomatoes,
lettuce), mushrooms, potatoes and ornamentals, at 75-225 g/ha; when used in drench or drip
irrigation at 190-450 g/ha.

Oral: Acute oral LD50 for rats ranges from 135->5000 mg/kg, depending upon carrier and conditions of the study; for dogs >300 mg/kg. Acute oral LD50 for formulations in rats: >2000 mg (of 15 g/l EC)/kg; 445 mg (of 25 g/l EC)/kg; >5000 mg (of 5 g/l UL)/kg; >16 000 mg (of 25 g/kg WP)/kg; >40 000 mg (of 25 g/l SC)/kg.
Skin and eye: Acute percutaneous LD50 for rats and rabbits >2000 mg/kg. Non-irritating to skin; mild eye irritant (rabbits).
