Toxicity

Oral:DEET is low in toxicity to rats when ingested. The acute oral LD50 in rats is 2170 to 3664 mg/kg.1 See the text boxes on Toxicity Classification and LD50/LC50. Dermal”DEET is low in toxicity to rabbits when applied to the skin. The acute dermal LD50 in rabbits is 4280 mg/kg.1 Researchers observed slight to moderate dermal irritation and slight edema in studies exposing rabbits to technical grade DEET. Dermal irritation resolved within seven days. |
